Alright friends, I’m reallllly excited to talk about skincare today on the blog. I’ll be sharing my daily routine with you guys and telling you about my go-to products – fyi, they’re ALL affordable so you’re definitely gonna want to read until the end.
I’m all about glam living on budget – hence the name Sensible Stylista – so most of the products I use are budget-friendly. I personally don’t believe that price and quality go hand in hand, but that’s just me. You guys should make your own call after trying these products out for yourself though! So, without further ado, let’s get to it.
Morning Skincare Routine
I always shower before bed so my skin feels nice and clean when I wake up. So, I don’t feel the need to use a heavy duty cleanser in the AM. Cetaphil’s perfect because it’s gentle – even babies can use this face wash, lol – and hydrating. It helps my skin retain moisture, and my face always feels soft and silky smooth afterwards.
Sunscreen is non-negotiable in my book. It’s something I wear religiously regardless of what I’m doing. I don’t care if I’m just lounging around in PJs at home, I’ll still wear it. I’m actually a brand ambassador for Olay now, but I was a fan of their line way before I started working with them. They have a newer SPF moisturizer called Regenerist (like their epic night cream), but it’s $39. Yes, it works really well, but so does their All Day Moisturizer, and at $8, it’s a fraction of the price. You can’t go wrong with either though so go with what works best with your budget.
Evening Skincare Routine
I hope you guys are ready because my evening regimen is way more rigorous than my morning one. I start by carefully removing all my makeup. I use Kirkland Towelettes for my face (available for purchase in bulk at Costco) and a soft tissue with makeup remover for my eyes. And remember, don’t rub…unless you WANT wrinkles, lol. You have to pat gently or you’ll do more harm than good!
I’ve been super into korean face washes as of late, and this brand’s legit! The Face Shop’s really good as well, and both brands are affordable – think $8-9 per tube. You can buy it on Amazon or find it at your local TJ Maxx (…usually, lol). This thoroughly removes all my makeup, and my skin feels rejuvenated afterwards.
I mask 1-3x a week depending on my skin and season. I use this when I’m breaking out because it dries out pimples like nobody’s business. I don’t wear it all over though – I’ve found that it’s much more effective as a spot treatment so keep that in mind during use. You also don’t want to dry out the “good parts” of your skin because that’ll cause peeling, which is no bueno.
I wish these weren’t as pricy, but they work reallllly well so they’re worth the splurge in my book. And by “splurge,” I mean $3.50 per mask, lol. I’m a sucker for their ice cream and popsicle sheet masks. They smell like heaven, and they do such a great job moisturizing. Your skin will look and feel nourished immediately after, and I promise you’ll wake up with a glow. Do this right AFTER you shower, while your pores are still “open” for best results.
This may seem pricy, but the bottle’s huge and it lasts forever so it’s actually affordable if you think about cost per use. I use this after I mask and before I start my hydrating regimen to help purify and balance my skin. It contains a slew of amazing ingredients that help increase absorbency to help you get the most out of your beauty products.
I rotate between the two depending on how I feel. I used to wear both, but I stopped doing that a few months ago because I thought it was overkill. If my skin feels good, I use e.l.f., if it’s feeling dry, then I slather on Olay.
The e.l.f. moisturizer is lightweight yet super nourishing. It’s infused with jojoba, aloe, shea butter, cucumber, and other vitamins that help you get the best skin of your life…but the best part is that it’s only $8. Who says you need to spend hella cash on a product to get results.
Now, Regenerist is my secret weapon. I’ve been using it for the last ten years – and I’m not exaggerating, guys – and I still love it as much as I did when I first started using it. It’s honestly a miracle cream in terms of hydration, and it’s great for people of all ages. It’s rich yet absorbs quickly so you don’t experience any greasiness! It contains powerhouse ingredients like niacinamide and hyaluronic acid so you’ll most likely see a difference within a few weeks.
Anddd that’s it, guys! Those are all the products I use to keep my skin glowing on the regular. I hope you enjoyed reading about my skincare routine.
