For those of you looking to stock up on basics, American Giant’s an awesome option. They don’t jump on trends so their designs are classics that’ll last the test of time. Think high quality threads that are built to surpass what’s “hot” in the moment. Their bestsellers include solid color t-shirts, hoodies, tank tops, and joggers.
American Giant’s Classic Full Zip ($118)
I recently got two pieces from their online store, and I’m excited to review them for you guys. First up, their classic full zip! Although this was their first sweatshirt design, it’s still their most popular. They classify it as heavyweight outerwear because it’s made of a thick fleece, but it’s still flattering – as flattering as a hoodie can be – due to its slim fit.
It’s pre-washed, shrunk and has reinforced elbow patches and a double lined hood in addition to a custom metal zipper, grommets and drawcord tips. I own this in black, but it’s available in various other colors as well. They have several classic shades for sale in addition to a handful of limited edition hues.
I personally like oversized clothing so I got my hoodie in a medium, but they fit true to size and range from xs to xxl! Click here to get one for yourself – not gonna lie, this zip’s on the pricier side, but there’s a reason by Slate named this “the greatest hoodie ever made.” See what the hype’s all about!
American Giant Merino V-Neck Sweater ($170)
I’m a sucker for sweaters, and this one is so well made. It definitely cost me a pretty penny, but the quality’s on point. Merino wool’s known for its lightweight warmth and moisture wicking properties, while cotton leaves you with a soft and smooth finish.
They’ve combined the two fabrics for an easy to wash, easy to wear knit, and it’s bound to become a wardrobe staple. I’m wearing chalkboard heather, but it’s also available in heather grey and steel blue. I really love the way the piece fits my body, and it’s versatile so it’s great for both work and casual errands.
I totally understand if you find this to be too expensive. Although I think the hoodie’s worth the splurge, it may make more sense to invest in a cashmere sweater instead of this particular v-neck if your budget’s tight. It’s high quality for sure, but $170’s hefty.
