If you follow my stories on instagram, you probably already saw some behind-the-scenes shots from my day trip to Virginia Wine Country a while back. 3LPR put together the most amazing press trip, and I enjoyed it immensely. I got to experience the best of Loudoun County with some of the finest bloggers in the DMV area, and it was an experience that I won’t forget.
We started our adventure at Doukenie Winery. It’s won more medals than any other winery at the 2019 Loudoun Wine Awards, and it’s the largest family-run operation in the area. It’s situated at the base of a mountain, and the property is a tranquil escape located next to a large lake with 400+ acres of vines.
We got to sample several while we were brunching, and James Philips, one of their young winemakers, did a fabulous job telling us about each bottle. After enjoying food from Petite LouLou (think quiches, charcuterie, and more), we toured their facility as a group before heading to Walsh Family Winery.
Founded by Sarah and Nate Walsh in 2014, they strive to make delicious and authentic Virginia wines. They’re dedicated to the production and sales of premium vino, and they have one of the coolest wineries I’ve ever seen. The interior’s hip, and the vibe’s warm and inviting. I really enjoyed walking through their vineyard, and I even got to pick (aka devour) a few grapes! And yes, they were super sweet in case you were wondering.
After our second tasting, we drove toLa Petite Loulou in Purcellville for dinner. Think of it as a piece of Paris where urban energy meets small town charm. This French creperie and wine bar is located in Historic VA, and they churn out fresh croissants every hour so definitely go and indulge.
They had a lovely set up waiting for us so we enjoyed beautiful sandwiches and pastries with tea and champagne. If you have a sweet tooth, definitely make sure to get a nutella crepe to share. Their savory crepes are really good as well though so don’t expect to count calories during your meal.
Alright loves, I hope you enjoyed reading about my latest adventure in the DMV. A huge thanks to Alicia Bruce for the wonderful photography, and to 3LPR for the amazing day.
