Alright friends, I’m extra excited for today’s post because we’re talking about photoshoot preparation. Continue reading for five tips on how to channel your inner supermodel and rock your shoot like the boss you are.
1. Find the right photographer!
So first and foremost, figure out what you want to shoot. Are you taking some sexy boudoir pics for your SO? Do you need a new headshot for work? Or are you looking to take some fun lifestyle photos for your dating profile? Figure out what it is you need and find someone who “specializes” in what you’re looking for. Ask your friends for recommendations, and check out their portfolio to see if you like their style before reaching out to schedule a session.
2. Prep your skin the night before.
This is a big one for me and not just because I’m a nut when it comes to skincare. I always make sure to pamper myself the night before a shoot. I sheet mask it up so my skin is nice and hydrated, and the glow makes a real difference in photos. I slather on a rich face cream afterwards to maximize moisturization, and I recommend you guys do the same, especially if you have normal-dry skin like I do.
3. Get your glam on!
Take extra time to get ready before your shoot! You want to put your best foot forward so I recommend practicing your look (makeup, hair, etc.) at least once. Also, Revlon just came out with a new line called PhotoReady Candid Cosmetics so take a look-see. Their new foundation, concealer and lip tint will take your make-up routine to the next level.
The Revlon PhotoReady Candid™ Foundation contains antioxidants, anti-pollutants, and anti-blue light ingredients and is infused with green tea, vitamin E and aloe. Wanna know what’s out? Parabens, phthalates, artificial fragrances, artificial dyes and oils.
It has a beautiful creamy texture that goes on like moisturizer and blends invisibly to even out your skin without weighing you down. It has medium buildable coverage and is super, duper blendable. It leaves you with a natural finish which I love, and it works beautifully with all skin types.
The Revlon PhotoReady Candid™ Antioxidant Concealer has caffeine in its formula, which helps relieve under eye puffiness, bags and dark circles. It has a unique doe-foot applicator that’s perfect for delicate skin so you don’t have to worry about wrinkles.
The Revlon Kiss Cushion Lip Tint goes on like a balm but looks like a stain. It’s super hydrating because it’s infused with conditioning coconut oil, which helps nourish & protect against dryness. The innovative applicator is pillowy soft, and I love that you can build color with layers for more impact. Purchase these products at your nearest Rite Aid – click here to find one near you.
4. Wear something that makes you feel like a goddess.
Do you have a power color? A shade that makes you feel like you can walk on water? For me, that’s either red or black. I don’t know what it is about those shades, but I feel unstoppable when I’m wearing a sexy LBD or LRD.
When it comes to wardrobe, wear whatever makes you feel most confident. A million people could tell you that you looked like a rockstar, but if you don’t feel like one, that discomfort will show in your modeling. Figure out which “features” you love most and then go from there. For example, I’m self-conscious of my back fat, but I like my legs so I wear high waisted outfits (think mini dresses or short skirts with heels) to further elongate them and create an hourglass silhouette. See what I mean?
5. Don’t be shy.
Own that camera, frand. Channel your inner Cindy Crawford, and werk it. Whether you’re a seasoned model or a total newbie, you got this. And regardless of your “level,” your photographer will help guide you with tips during your session to get the most flattering images possible.

For every 5o pics you take, you’ll only get one that you love so don’t be afraid to experiment with your facial expressions. You guys have no idea how many duds I go through when sifting through my outfit shoots. Or how many selfies I take on my phone to get one that’s decent enough to share on instagram.
Alright guys, I hope you enjoyed reading my latest post on how to properly prepare for a photoshoot.
