I used to have a reallllly weird relationship with color because I’d go back and forth between loving vibrant hues and then casting them aside for neutral shades. That’s all fine and dandy, but the weird part was that I felt pressured to choose one set over the other…yeah, I quickly realized that I was being ridiculous. SO, today’s outfit features *drum roll, please* primary colors!
I am and always have been a style chameleon. I like experimenting with different vibes depending on my mood, and you know what? I’ve come to discover that that’s more than ok. Style = expression. If you feel like being minimalist one day, be minimalist. If you feel like being bold on another, be bold. There is no right or wrong in fashion, and that in itself is part of the fun – person 1 may HATE your OOTD, but I guarantee you that person 2 adores your ensemble from head to toe. Moral of the story? You can’t please everyone, but you CAN please yourself so dress for you and you alone *steps off soapbox*
So, for today’s OOTD, I decided to play around with yellow, blue and red (aka the primary colors) for funsies. Truth be told, I found this skirt hiding in the back of my closet and wanted to feature it. I purchased it years ago at Charlotte Russe for $7 during a blowout sale and totally forgot about it. I know, I know. I’m guilty of breaking one of my cardinal rules: never buy “x” because it’s affordable. Oh well, that was like 3 years ago – I was young and stupid then, ha!
I’m not a huge fan of pleats because they bulk me up, but I made an exception for this skirt because it was high-waisted, and the slits were sexy as hell. I paired it with a basic mustard tee and tied it to accentuate my waist to create a more flattering figure, and then threw on adorable pom-pom sandals to match + a hat to finish everything off.
