Soooo, my latest purchase from Topshop wasn’t exactly a bargain buy, but this striped minidress was just too cute to pass up. I knew I’d get a TON of wear out of it (work + play, obvi) so I decided to treat myself. I’ve been in kind of a funk these last two weeks so I needed to indulge in some sensible retail therapy, hardy har har. I fell in love with the built-in belt, and fell even more in love with the fleece-like fabric. SO soft, and oh-so comfy. I could legit sleep in this dress, y’all!
Anywho, for those of you interested, it’s available here for purchase. It’s a euro brand so size up! I usually wear 0 or 2, but their 4’s fit me perfectly – for Topshop & ASOS. It’s also sold in B&W for those of you interested… but it’s petite and $5 more. Not sure if that makes a difference but wanted to give you guys a heads up anyway! Also, students get an extra 10% off their purchase, and shipping + returns are always FREE. If you’re unsure about size, just get two and return the one that doesn’t fit.
For today’s OOTD, I styled my new mini dress with one of my go-to jackets! Hopefully you’re not sick of seeing this baby because it’s a fabulous transitional piece, and I’m planning on wearing it for as long as possible, ha. I first featured it here a while back! Also, speaking of transitional clothing, if you didn’t catch Monday’s post, make sure you clicky here to read about “4 Winter Pieces that Transition Beautifully to Spring.”
Andddd I totally got off topic. Back to today’s look! I accessorized with new cat-eye sunnies courtesy of Vogue Eyewear and threw on my new boots from DSW. Now these boots were a BARGAIN! I got them for $40, and they’re Pour La Victoire (!!!!) They were like 60% off, and I got an additional 30% due to a cray in-store promo. I love, love, LOVE the DSW in Columbia. They have a huge selection, and the staff is super friendly. I always go after I eat at Red Lobster…to walk off my food coma…by exercising my wallet??? Ha. Sorry not sorry.
Unfortunately, these boots aren’t available online so I can’t link y’all, but here are other silver boot styles under $50:
Now onto my weekly highlights – I’m gonna fly through these because it’s 2AM, and I’m exhausted, lol.
- Tackling the #MichaelsChallenge with Anthony Paige Photography: I had SO much fun shooting with Anthony. You’d think I’d feel self conscious shooting in a store full of people, but I have no shame whatsoever so it was all fine and dandy, ha. I was legit lying in the middle of aisles, but hey, you do what you gotta do to get that kickass shot! I’m still waiting to get back images from Anthony, but here’s a taste of what’s to come! On that note, what do you guys prefer: editorial shoots or everyday OOTD posts like this? Definitely make sure y’all let me know by commenting.
- Enjoying Gusto’s new spring menu: Ok so it’s not really a spring menu, but more like a spring pizza, salad and juice. I reallllly loved it though! I went to the location in Silver Spring with my mom, and their new Sprouts and Spuds pizza blew us away. If you want to see a picture of it, click here. It was almost TOO pretty to eat – seriously! Priced at $8.95 and made with EVOO, white cheddar, gouda, pancetta, thin sliced red potatoes, and topped with micro greens, edible flowers and a honey sriracha drizzle. So much yum in my tum. I highly recommend checking them out if you’re looking for a good meal that’s affordable and quick. Note: they offer whole wheat and cauliflower crusts here (!!!) I’ve tried all three so I can vouch for them all. Their new salad’s solid, too. FYI, that means a lot coming from me because salad makes me sad. The Spring Chick is also priced at $8.95, and made with spring mix, romaine, bleu cheese, cherry tomato, egg, pancetta, avocado, and cilantro. It dressed in a skinny vinaigrette, and you can add protein for additional $. I recommend the chicken, but the shrimp is nom, too.
- Covering Akira Ramen for Nomtastic Foods: Love, love, LOVED dining at Akira Ramen. My go-to is Bantam King and Daikaya, but this is def. my new fave place in Rockville. I really enjoyed their volcano ramen, and I’m really looking forward to getting it again – just wish it was spicier! Anywho, I’m def. gonna bring my dad here when he visits. My mom’s not big into ramen, but my dad and I both LOVE it. Do you guys like ramen? Also, totally random fact: the best ramen I ever had was in west Orlando!!!! Isn’t that weird? A tiny hole-in-the-wall establishment called Sapparo Ramen, lol. I seriously go every time I’m in FL. Everything there is good, and I’m legit drooling just thinking about it.
Alright guys, that’s it for today’s weekly recap, but you’re definitely gonna want to tune in because there’s SO much going on next week. I’m super duper excited! Tons of tastings, more food adventures with DCFoodPorn, modeling, a blogger dinner with Urban Decay, and more. Should I take casual pics with my cell and do a separate recap post each week? Hm, decisions, decisions.
