I’m so glad I finally got to check out SPIN! I used to play ping pong all the time back in college so this was a trip down memory lane. Located on 1332 F St NW (right across from Proper 21), they’re open from Mon-Wed 4-11pm, Th 4-12am, Fri 4-2am, Sat 12-2am, and Sun 12-8pm.
I went with my girl Natalie – she’s a professor at Syracuse, but her family still lives in DC so I get to see her every once in a while. She’s one of my closest friends, and I’m so lucky to have her in my life.
We had a blast playing and stuffing our faces with food & drank. The space itself was super instagram-worthy. There were ping pong tables all around with a huge bar in the center, and there was a DJ spinnin’ so it was high energy all night!
We had $100 credit so we ordered a bunch of different things! To be honest, I didn’t really have high expectations for the cocktails or food, but I was legit impressed with everything we got. It was super tasty, and lemme tell you, they don’t mess around with their drinks so expect a buzz for real.
So, here’s what you guys need to get on the food front: their Hop Pop Chicken ($11) and their Carnitas Taco ($12). The chicken’s extra crispy – just the way I like it – and it comes with a creamy buttermilk dipping sauce. IMHO the chicken was tastier, but the tacos were a close second, topped with chimichurri, pickled onions, fresno chili, and radish. Nat and I also got a Margherita Flatbread to share, but the chicken really stole the show.
The cocktails here were tasty AND strong so what’s not to like? Ha. We got four different drinks total, but we had favorites. Must-tries include their seasonal Mule ($13) and their Straight B’s ($12). The latter’s made with Bulleit rye, aperol, lemon, cinnamon, and apple cider, and it’s the first drink you guys saw pictured above.
SPIN’s $9 per hour/per person so it’s affordable, and you don’t have to worry about chasing rogue balls, which is awesome – they have designated ball girls and guys that pick everything up for you.
I feel like it’d be more fun going with a big group of friends, but it’s a great way to decompress either way so go wild. I’m really excited to cover more in the DMV area soon. I’m going to be in Korea for a few weeks, but the second I get back, I’m going to play tourist in my own city and try to cross off some thangs on my list. In case you missed it, I shared “100 dreams” not too long ago so expect more lifestyle content soon, friends.
