Looking to indulge your sweet tooth while visiting the Big Apple? Here are 6 of the best dessert places in New York City, with everything from matcha drinks to boba soft serve. Whether you’re in the mood for an enormous cookie or something a bit more adventurous, this list will do you good so make sure to bookmark and share because sharing is caring.
Matcha N’ More
If you love all things Matcha, this cafe will blow your mind. Located on 177 Hester Street in Little Italy, their matcha’s directly imported from Japan, and they make all their purees and syrups in house. They use fresh and organic ingredients so you don’t have to worry about ingesting anything artificial. The decor’s cute, and it’s a fun place to hang – think laid-back vibe that oozes casual cool.
Must try drinks include their Blue Matcha Latte ($5) and their Lavender Rose Matcha Latte ($5.50). Their soft serve is also a must so indulge while you’re there. It’s rich, creamy and just the right amount of sweet. They’re known for their 24k matcha soft serve, and it’s awesome on a chocolate cone ($9), but their matcha/vanilla soft serve’s cheaper at $5 and it tastes exactly the same. So, is the 24k cone worth it? If you want to take a cool picture, absolutely. If you just want some yummy ice cream, you won’t be missing out with the regular.
Sweet Corner Bakeshop
You really can’t go wrong with anything you get at Sweet Corner. Rodolfo Goncalves is the baker/owner, and everything he does is gold. His shop went viral on social media a while back. You’ve probably seen his giant nutella hearts, but his baked goods are so much better. His cookies could stop wars, and he makes a mean passionfruit cheesecake so definitely make sure to pay him a visit when you’re here. His bakery’s located on 535 Hudson Street in West Village.
Founded in 1994 by two friends, Levain is world-renowned for their cookies. They’re six-ounces a pop, and they’re the epitome of nomtastic goodness. They have four different flavors available, but they’re most famous for their chocolate chip walnut cookie. My personal favorite is their dark chocolate chocolate chip cookie! Get both and see which one you like better.
Bar Pa Tea
Located on 85 Kenmare Street, Bar Pa Tea place specializes in boba and tea latte soft serve. Although their drink menu’s impressive, their soft serve is outstanding. Choose from three different flavors: oolong, black tea, and swirl. I recommend the latter so you can try both! Add boba on top for a memorable sundae with texture that could kill. It’s $4.75 a cup, and you can add the following toppings for 50 cents each: a cone, honey wheat braided twists, a mini stroopwafel and/or oreo cookie crumbs.
Two words: banana pudding. This dessert will straight up change your life. Who knew something so simple could be so delicious? This New York staple was first established in 1996, but they’ve expanded greatly since then. We’re talkin’ DC, Mexico City, LA and more. Although you can get their sweets in various different cities now, there’s something to be said about visiting the flagship. And if you’re in the area anyway, why not check out their original location in West Village?
This gem of a cafe is located in Chinatown, and it’s so worth the trip. The space is on the smaller side so try to go during an off hour if you can. Expect droolworthy asian desserts that are as tasty as can be. Their ube cream puff is exceptional, but their mochi munchkins are too so get both because YOLO. They have several vegan flavors available so bring all your friends and fam knowing there’s something delicious for everyone.
